What does the program print?

total = 0
for i in range(1, 10, 3):
    total += i
print(total)

Expecting 22, as if 10 were included: range stops before stop, so i takes only 1, 4 and 7, and their sum is 12.
Expecting 45, as if the step were ignored: the third argument 3 is the step, so range(1, 10, 3) skips two numbers after each one.
